TB - Tall Bearded Irises
Tall Bearded Irises are the most common group of irises, often called garden irises. In this group you will find large-flowered irises, usually 70 cm to 120 cm high. In Europe, they come into bloom on around 10th May. We cultivate them with love in South Moravia region of the Czech Republic. They are easy to grow and fully frost-resistant. From tens of thousands of bred varieties you can find here our selection of the best, easily grown sorts coming mainly from European and American breeders. Flowers are large, mostly wavy, sometimes of exotic shapes, one- or multicolored, differently dotted or stripped, often pleasantly fragrant. Flowers grow on one main and 2-4 side stems. Each of them has 1-3 buds, so 7-12, even 15 flowers gradually bloom in one plant. These irises love sunny locations; they can be planted individually, or together with other perennials. Flowers are very suitable for cutting.
For better orientation, TB irises on these pages is possible to sort by height into two groups:
Tall Bearded Irises - higher than 90 cm
Tall Bearded Irises - up to 90 cm (71-89 cm) high
They can also be sorted by flower color, fragrance or flower type:
Self – i.e. one or more tones of one color
Bicolor – i.e. two different basic colors
Plicata – striped, dotted, splashed etc. on a white or colored base
Space Ager – with beards extended to a few cm in length - in the form of horns, spoons...
Broken Color – basic dark color with wild light splashing, or light background with dark pattern
We accept orders from April, bareroot plants are sent (by Zásilkovna or Czech Post) from mid-July to the end of September. If you want to order both bearded irises (TB, SDB, MDB) and peonies, you need to order peonies on a separate order, because we send bearded irises in the summer, but peonies in autumn (or in early spring). Together with bearded irises - siberian and spuria irises, daylilies and hostas can be ordered.

Standards white, center flushed yellow, falls golden yellow, velvet texture, ruffled. Beards orange in throat, yellow at end. Slight sweet fragrance.

Apricot-pink standards nicely complement the ruffled blue-lavender or light violet falls. Beards orange. Highly valued sort, delicate flowers. Excellent growth and rich flowering. Fine fragrance.
ANYTHING GOES (Hager 1998)
Raspberry pink standards, deeper rose falls distinctly veined, bright tangerine beards. Big flowers, nicely ruffled. Perfect branching of the stem, good bud count. Prolific and vigorous, healthy growth.
SLOVAK PRINCE (Mego 2003)
Standards white shaded orchid lavender, slight blue veining, gold rim, falls dark velvety blue purple, slightly lighter rim, white area around gold beard with purple veining changing to brown, ruffled. Slight sweet fragrance. Superb, world unique sort from the Slovak breeder.
PAUL BLACK (Johnson 2003)
Medium dark purple blue self, nicely ruffled. Wide beards dark orange. Pronounced spicy fragrance. Excellent sort, unique colour combination, many shows winner.
SIXTINE C (Cayeux 1995)
Standards pure white, falls white with bright violet blue edge and veins. Beards orange red. Huge flowers on perfect stem with 8 to 9 buds. Sweet floral fragrance.
MODRÝ TRN (Seidl 2002)
Light greyed lavender blue self. Falls with honey and white pattern near beards, ruffled. Beards dark blue, old gold in throat, dark blue horn. Slight fragrance. Unique Space Age sort, coming from the moravian breeder.
GIRL'S FAVOURITE (Blyth 1995/96)
Medium bright pink self, beards bright coral. Ruffled flowers, vital and healthy growth. Pronounced sweet fragrance.
GNU (Kasperek 1994)
Standards light lavender ground washed medium lavender and off-white with medium violet splashes. Falls same, heavier medium violet purple on shoulders. Beards burnt orange tipped violet. Flowers ruffled and flared, slightly fragrant.
FASHION ALERT (Blyth 2010)
Standards champagne buff with a flush of violet at the midribs, falls soft pastel violet blended over buff with a deeper violet flash below the beards, falls with dark veining. Flowers ruffled. Pronounced sweet fragrance.
CELESTIAL EXPLOSION (Tasco 2004)
Standards violet, falls cold white ground heavily peppered violet, darker violet rim. Beards white, tipped golden yellow. Sweet, pleasant fragrance.
FOR LOVERS ONLY (Black 2008)
Standards and falls heavily ruffled and lightly laced. Standards medium pink, falls wide, palest pink with medium pink diamond dusted bases and wide blended pink margins. Beards white tipped coral pink, white at end. Slight fragrance. Healthy, vigorous plants produce show stalks with 9-10 buds.
PALLIDA ARGENTEA-VARIEGATA
White edged leaves year round. Light blue self, standards and falls slightly ruffled. Beards yellow in throat, light blue at tips. Midseason bloom. Strong and very pleasant fragrance.

Standards delicate smoky grey-violet, falls cream, nearly white with blue patch in center, delicate yellow border. Beards golden orange, pale blue at end. Slight sweet fragrance. Extraordinary sort.

Standards icy white with a slight blue cast, falls icy white, bluish cast and faint blue center line on first day, then fades away, greenish yellow at the base. Beards white base tipped lemon. Wide, flared and ruffled flowers, slight sweet fragrance. Exceptional stem branching.

Standards bright lemon yellow, falls red burgundy to ruby, bright yellow even starburst pattern extending half way down. Beards bright golden yellow.
